Chris Terry Consulting has over

10 years of experience providing consulting services around the country to small business, entrepreneurs, media clients, educational programs, and veteran-owned businesses. We provide Government contract bidding preparation as well as certifications. Business feasibility analysis. Development and training for various start-up businesses, such as effective time management and diversity training, customer service and retention for non-profit entities. We also provide administrative services for trademark, copyright, provisional patent and publishing registrations, as well as limited liability company set-ups.

I am a Military Veteran having served in the United States Army 545th Military Police unit as well as U.S. Recruiting Command. I was awarded Army achievement and good conduct medals. I am a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy Jesuit with a BS in Criminal Justice. I attended graduate school at the University of Michigan MPA program. I am a former Trustee & Commissioner with the city of Southfield Michigan and Military Veteran consultant with the District of Columbia Government in Washington DC. As an entrepreneur and trainer, I have been a part of various small business owner initiatives such as Boots to Business Washington DC, Small business administration and Veteran Entrepreneurs program and founder of the Youth Entrepreneurs Program in Detroit Michigan (MaryGrove College).

I was appointed by the City Council of Southfield, Michigan to the Administrative Civil Service Commission. As a Commissioner,  I was responsible for the following:

  • Classify all positions in the classified civil service: fix rates of compensation, make rules and regulations covering all personnel transactions; approve eligibility lists based on merit principles
  • Prepare amend, recommend and administer an insurance plan and a retirement plan for general system employees
  • Serve as a hearing board for settlement of disputes and resolution of grievances

As a Trustee on the Southfield Employee Retirement System I was responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for exercising fiduciary responsibility over the $100 million Southfield Employee Retirement System and the $20 million Retiree Health Care Benefits Plan and Trust.
  • Review and approve distributions from the trust account (benefit payments and eligible expenses)
  • Develop policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal law.
  • Selection of Investment Professionals.

I am currently the U.S. Veteran Rep for the District of Columbia Government (DOES) and U.S. Labor Department, as well as small business initiatives with U.S. SBA Veteran programs.
